Read Luke is an invitation to experience the Gospel of Luke in a fresh, simple way that empowers each church, pastor, and individual(s) to engage deeply with the life of Jesus. We've intentionally given you complete creative freedom to approach this reading however feels right for you, your pastor, your small group, or even just yourself. Luke’s Gospel, with its 24 chapters, is perfect for a reading in December leading up to Christmas—its account of Christ’s nativity and His teachings offers a daily journey that prepares our hearts for the True meaning of Christmas, The Son of the Living God.
Read Luke is not to be approached as a formal Bible study, small group, or academic exercise. It’s a call to simply read out loud together. We encourage you to gather however you can, whenever you can—with your pastor, a church elder, your spouse, friends, or family, whether in person, over the phone, or on Zoom at anytime—and read Luke out loud together. Read it with openness, allowing the words of Christ's life to speak to you. If a study or discussion flows naturally from this, wonderful! If a new insight comes up that helps deepen your relationship with Jesus, embrace it! We actually encourage all of that, ask questions, be curious! But above all, we urge you to start with Prayer and then just read the text.
We believe two of the greatest challenges facing the church today aren’t flashy distractions or even poor teaching; they’re a lack of Bible literacy and prayer. Read Luke is here to encourage a return to these foundations—to help you rediscover the true significance of Christ’s birth and the joy of Christmas, and to foster a renewed heart for God’s Word and for prayer. We hope this December journey through Luke inspires a love for Scripture and a deeper connection with Jesus that lasts well beyond the season.
